The Importance of 12u Football

12u, this is the the time at the 11 & 12 year old age that most kids are starting to bounce back & forth between the idea of playing for their beloved Rec Football Team or transition to play for their School.  While the idea of playing for your school, wearing your school colors, and walking around with your jersey on the day of the game can be appealing to an athlete, there are a few THINGS to consider before making that decision.

What Should Be Considered

• You Cant Change Your Mind Later

  • In many rec leagues, kids are not allowed to play for both rec league team & middle school.  And, once that child plays a game with their middle school, they are immediately prohibited from playing for rec that season. The penalties range from fees to forfeiture of the season for the rec team.

• Playing Time

  • Unless that 5th or 6th Grader is exceptional, they usually do not get anywhere near the playing time they would receive had they played Rec. In our experience, we have heard Players & their Parents complain and voice their regrets of choosing Middle School over Rec so early when their child could have played & still had fun before aging out.​

Our 12u is lead by Ducks Co Founder & President Jimmy Knight who has over 15 years of experience coaching & developing players from Ages 5 up to 12 years old.  In addition to Coach Jimmy, we have added Professional Football Scout Alfonza Knight to our coaching staff. We understand the importance of getting these kids ready for the next level in their lives, so our focus is on developing & preparing them for the next chapter.
